Groundwater Sampling & Testing

How we analyze discharge water

The discharge of private water is regulated by Sewers under the Chapter 681 of the Toronto Municipal Code.

Whether directly or indirectly into a city sanitary sewer or combined sewer, testing is required for those who discharge water.

A qualified organization, such as Neotec, must conduct all testing. In addition to designing, installing, and servicing discharge water treatment systems, Neotec can also sample and test discharge water. We offer annual testing and meter calibration. Results must be submitted by May 15th for testing and delivery. Section 2:

To ensure compliance with Chapter 681, Neotec can conduct a sample test of the Private Water to be discharged from its premises.

What is Private Water?

Water originating from a source other than the City's water supply is called private water.

  • A Private waterworks system, a well, or any other subsurface extraction of groundwater
  • Stormwater and/or Groundwater accumulating or collected on private lands
  • The permanent or temporary alternation of a natural or pre-existing drainage pattern
  • A tank, tanker truck, vessel, or other means of water storage, not supplied by the City
  • A permanent or temporary water retention sites, wastewater ponds, or other areas or sites for collecting surface water, whether natural or man-made, created, used or caused during renovation, repair, maintenance, demolition, construction-related or land development activities
  • In any combination of the activities mentioned above, the water would be discharged to the City Sewage Works, and the activity is related to renovation, repair, maintenance, demolition, construction, or land development.

Going Beyond Discharge Water Testing & Sampling

Neotec specializes in designing, installing, maintaining, and servicing custom discharge water systems. If you are looking for a Foundation/Groundwater Treatment solution, we can help. To get the most precise results on time, Neotec conducts all water testing or analysis at a Canadian laboratory accredited by the Standards Council of Canada and/or the Canadian Association for Laboratory Accreditation.

To measure the amount of water discharged by the discharger, Neotec installs flow-measuring devices or meters. In the event of annual meter calibration, Neotec removes the physical meter from the site and works closely with a Meter Calibration Centre to conduct dynamic testing.
